Cabo San Lucas Real Wedding
“We had both been to a series of fun & beautiful weddings over the years but always noticed how after months/years of planning, the party ended after only one night,” Stephanie and David say.
That’s why the couple so easily fell in love with the idea of going on vacation with the people those they love most – oh, plus getting married in a beautiful, exotic location.
Most guests were thrilled about Stephanie and David’s decision, but not all. “As difficult as some of the reactions were, we focused on what was important! This was about us, our love and how we wanted to celebrate it and the people who wanted to be there to witness that would find a way to be there,” the couple says.
As a result, the pair ended up having a whopping 100 guests, which was way more than they expected, and it turned out amazing.
“I originally hired a wedding planner to help scout locations,” Stephanie says. “We quickly realized we’d need all the help we can get and ended up hiring her for the entire year of planning.” The couple admits they really didn’t really know what they were getting into planning a wedding from across the continent. Luckily, hiring a full-time planner meant the major worries beyond venue scouting were also eased.
The couple’s ultimate peace of mind came from within, however. As they wouldn’t be able to meet with most of their vendors or even see the actual location until the wedding week, it came down to simply relinquishing control.
“I looked at it as, whenever I go on vacation, I normally don’t visit the place beforehand, but I research it heavily, and I’ve never had a bad experience,” the bride says.
Another potential worry during the planning process was the Zika virus (they knew many of their friends were family planning). “For whatever reason, we thought Cabo San Lucas was one of those locations (we were wrong). However, out of all the other countries/resorts we looked at, we found Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort had pretty much everything we wanted,” the two say. Most importantly, the resort provided guests the option to have as luxurious or affordable of a vacation that they wanted. Plus, multiple all-inclusive options were offered at varying price points, along with access to amazing restaurants and activities for everyone to do. It had something for everyone, and everything needed for the perfect destination wedding.
“A year’s worth of planning for a week getaway made the fun and joy last a lot longer than one night in the states,” the couple says.
Our takeaway from Stephanie and David: the party doesn’t always have to end!
