A Palm Beach Destination Wedding

A Palm Beach Destination Wedding

A dreamy Palm Beach destination wedding was the clear choice for Tera and Nick. The couple met in the sixth grade and Tera spent countless family vacations on the island. “Nick also fell in love with the island during his first visit and proposed there too!” says the bride. Because of the special place the couple holds in their hearts for Palm Beach, they and 165 of their closest friends and family made the trip to Florida to celebrate their W-day.

The couple said planning a destination wedding was a breeze thanks to the talented people who helped out every step of the way. Internet searches, wedding magazines, personal referrals and their wedding planner were all important resources during the planning process.

Before the wedding, the couple hosted a welcome party in Palm Beach and a pool party at The Breakers, which was a nice opportunity for the guests to enjoy some sunshine before the wedding activities.

“A dream come true!” was the only way the couple could describe their wedding. “My cousin officiated the wedding, so that made the ceremony even more special and personal,” says the happy bride.

The bride’s favorite moment was seeing her groom for the first time while she walked down the aisle with her father by her side. “There was so much anticipation and it was such an incredible moment that I’ll be forever grateful for,” says Tera.

The bride described the reception in one word: fun! “The combination of the dining experience, the band, the music and the sparkler exit made for an incredible evening. We had chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches with rainbow sprinkles passed on the dance floor and a Chicago style hot dog stand full of toppings, which was a special detail that our guests loved.”

“Soak it up!” recommends Tera. “Savor each and every moment with your groom, the day truly does fly by and it’s important to take a moment together to share such a special day.”

A Romantic Wedding in the Bahamas

A Romantic Wedding in the Bahamas

For Michele and Edward, their destination wedding to Exuma, Bahamas was like coming home. The couple had visited the Bahamas every year for vacation, so it only made sense to bring their guests to paradise.

Family and friends were thrilled with the idea and embarked on the journey from New Jersey to enjoy a wedding vacation filled with snorkeling, swimming with pigs and stingrays and enjoying the beauty of the Bahamas.

While on vacation to scout locations, Michele and Edward immediately enlisted the help of Marva Munroe of Chic Bahamas Weddings & Events to plan their event. “I contacted the wonderful Marva Munroe who recommended and arranged a pre-wedding visit to The Grand Isle Resort,” recalls Michele. “The grounds and villas are impeccable and beyond beautiful. Not to mention the amazing staff working there! Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating, it was a no brainer for us! We fell in love with Exuma and wanted to share all its beauty with our family and friends.”

When it came to planning from afar, the couple relied on their wedding planner and it paid off in spades. “To say we were lucky to have found Marva Munroe from Chic Bahamas Weddings would be an understatement. When we decided on Exuma, we quickly realized planning our wedding so far away wasn’t going to be an easy task,” says Michele. “We had so many ideas but didn’t know where to start, we were lost. That’s when we contacted Marva and I am so happy we did! After our first phone conversation, she put my mind at ease and everything fell perfectly into place. Marva was unbelievably positive, supportive, patient and professional throughout our entire wedding planning process.”

Each guest received a fun DIY welcome bag. Canvas tote bags were filled with fun and useful items such as a hangover kit, beach towels, toiletries, snacks and flip-flops. They also included a welcome note and weekend itinerary for their guests.

The couple’s wedding weekend went off without a hitch thanks to Chic Bahamas Weddings. “Marva stopped at nothing to make sure my husband and I had the most incredible day of our lives! I couldn’t have planned my destination wedding without her,” says Michele.

When it comes to advice for other couples, Michele had this to say: “Have trust in your planner and know that your day is going to be perfect. At the end of the day, it is about you and your significant other. Nothing else matters.”

A Palm Coast Wedding Venue

Recent Blog Posts
A Palm Coast Wedding Venue

In a state as big as Florida, it’s all about location, location, location for your destination wedding! Hammock Beach Resort is located in Palm Coast, 30 minutes from the Daytona airport, 90 minutes east of Orlando and just south of St. Augustine. Hammock Beach, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort, is truly a one-stop-shop for couples looking to host several wedding events and lots of guests.

The variety of venues and accommodations is truly perfect for wedding groups. In terms of lodging for families, we recommend a suite in the Ocean Tower. The three or four bedroom luxury suites start at 2,800 sq. ft. and feature three full baths and a gorgeous gourmet kitchen. For couples, The Lodge is certainly the way to go. Located right on the ocean, The Lodge is like a boutique hotel within the resort that was fully renovated in 2017 and features only 20 rooms and luxurious amenities. Odds are, you’re going to have some family driving in for the big occasion and Hammock Beach’s villas or vacation rentals would be a great option with garages and/or complimentary parking.

When it comes time to say “I do,” the resort has various lawns and ballrooms to suit any capacity or style. It’s entirely feasible for you to host multiple events, all with a different look and location. Hammock Beach even offers special wedding packages that include three to four days’ worth of experiences like welcome events, rehearsal dinners and more. “We want [couples] to have that giant wedding experience where it’s the entire wedding weekend,” says Director of Catering and Conference Services, Britni Malloy.

Speaking of experiences, there are activities galore at Hammock Beach. The resort is known for its world-class golf, including the recently reopened Ocean Course, and its Water Pavilion complete with a lazy river, waterslide and sandy bottom pool. If your guests want to get out and see the sights, we can’t recommend historic St. Augustine enough. St. George Street is five blocks of pedestrian-only shopping, museums, restaurants and live music venues. Most of the buildings date back to the 18th century and it’s a charming town in which to spend a day away from the resort.

Perhaps best of all, Palm Coast and Hammock Beach offer enough variety to make it affordable and accessible for virtually any budget. Whether you want a wedding for 50 or 500, you’re sure to find just the right combination.

A Modern Palm Springs Wedding

A Modern Palm Springs Wedding

After 10 years of dating, John proposed to Lauren during a vacation to Iceland. He popped the question while visiting Hallgrimskirkja, the tallest building in Reykjavik, overlooking the bright and colorful town.

For the bride, Palm Springs, California, felt like a second home. Lauren grew up visiting the valley over spring breaks to see her grandfather who lived in Rancho Mirage and her recently retired parents now live nearby. The newlyweds have always prioritized travel, and with Palm Springs feeling like a second home, it made sense to have a destination wedding there. Over half of their guests would have to travel to their hometown in Michigan and they figured it wasn’t much of a stretch to travel to California. “We also loved the idea of having a wedding weekend, versus just one night, to spend with our dearest family and friends,” the couple says. “So we did our best to host everyone throughout the entire week.”

The couple's wedding theme was modern elegance with a nod to old Hollywood, decorated with peach, pink and orange flowers anchored with greenery offset by black and white and pops of gold. “We wanted to celebrate the history of Palm Springs and California’s mid-century influence, but have a strong sense of modern design,” Lauren says.

The newlyweds say their favorite part of the wedding was the ceremony. Lauren’s uncle and brother officiated the wedding. The groom says their heartfelt descriptions of him and his bride’s relationship had most of the guests in tears. “The entire wedding weekend was a blast from the welcome party at The Saguaro to the dance floor, but the meaning during the ceremony and walking down the aisle beaming is a moment I will never forget,” the bride says.

The bride and groom opted for a private vow exchange. Lauren and John shared their vows before the ceremony with just each other. The bride and groom wanted this private moment to share with each other before the rush of the day. “It was truly one of the most special moments,” the newlyweds say.

A Gorgeous Charleston Wedding

A Gorgeous Charleston Wedding

Ashley and Dave wanted to have a destination wedding in a city that their guests would love to travel to and experience. The couple chose gorgeous Charleston, South Carolina, for their wedding away.

The couple made their family and friends’ experience a priority and it paid off. Their wedding guests were “very excited to travel to such a spectacular destination.”

Ashley and Dave kicked off the weekend getaway with a welcome party at the Peninsula Grill at Planters Inn in the downtown historic district. The couple gave their guests a list of their favorites places to see, eat and shop to experience the best of what the city had to offer during their visit.

For the wedding, the now-newlyweds wanted their guests to see a modern side of Charleston’s Southern hospitality. “We loved Cannon Green for its elegant simplicity,” they said about their venue. “We knew the ‘live wall’ in the courtyard would be the perfect backdrop for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and were drawn to the Trolley Room for its historic and industrial vibes.”

Ashley says hiring their wedding planner and Sam Hurd were two no-brainers while planning their wedding. “We love, love, love how unique our photographs are and I was relaxed the whole weekend because [our planners] Aimee and Cindy are so good at what they do,” she said.

The bride says Charleston is both expensive to travel to and expensive to host a wedding in, but she did her best to make it worthwhile for her guests by really making it a weekend-long celebration. As part of the celebration, the couple incorporated traditional Charleston palmetto roses into their place settings. The tradition dates back to the Civil War and is still considered symbols of true love today.

Dave and Ashley also rented a classic Charleston trolley to take guests to a bar downtown for more celebratory drinks after the reception. “We loved getting to spend some extra time with our guests,” the couple said.

Ashley’s advice is to not lose sight of the fact that it’s your day and to put your happiness first. She also says to pay homage to your destination through details, as they make your day unique and memorable.

Los Cabos Wedding Inspiration

Los Cabos Wedding Inspiration

Researching inspiration and décor ideas for your destination wedding is one of the most fun parts of the planning process. Today, we’re bringing you a lovely, romantic photo shoot that took place at Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos. The property opened in June 2018, so this talented vendor group was excited to explore the new resort and all its potential destination wedding offerings. “Shooting at Solaz was both a pleasure and a thrill for me, as no one had ever shot there!” says photographer Collin Pierson. “We did a walk through and I knew we had a location that was both unique and an environment well suited to create an amazing concept. The softness that [Kesh Events] and [Michelle Durpetti Events] brought into the design helped to show off the most romantic aspects of the Solaz property.”

The concept of this photo shoot centered around highlighting the modern sleekness of the setting, while still bringing in classic, romantic details. The goal of the vendor team was to use the beach location to bring personal details into a luxury setting. “The Solaz is such a sleek, contemporary property, so when [Kesh Events] was talking about wanting to create something so romantic, I was excited to bring it to life in a property that I felt would encourage people to be a little more modern and clean [in their design]. I loved the challenge of that juxtaposition,” says Michelle Durpetti of Michelle Durpetti Events.

The ceremony, of course, took place on the beach at Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos. “A modern floral arch was designed using soft colors in white and pinks and accented with greenery,” says Akeshi Akinseye with Kesh Events. “The aisle was set with a cluster of pillar candles and lanters with floral accents.”

Our couple is ready to say “I do” in a gown by Berta and a classic veil, both courtesy of Ultimate Bride Chicago, and a custom tux from J. Hillburn. “Ultimate Bride in Chicago generously came to the table and loaned us a gorgeous gown from Berta with a figure-hugging silhouette and just the right amount of sparkle,” says Michelle Durpetti of Michelle Durpetti Events. Both the bride and groom’s shoes are from Jimmy Choo and our bride’s hair and makeup is by Isabellina Perches.

The vendor team focused on personalized details that could serve as real inspiration for destination wedding couples. “Gourmet Invitations designed the most exquisite stationery for a destination wedding,” says Akeshi Akinseye with Kesh Events. “The soft colors and floral touches were perfect. The monogram was cleverly tied into the invitations, welcome bags, vow cards and menus. These beautiful details really brought to life the sophistication we were shooting for.”

This dynamic team of wedding professionals really brought their A-game when it came to designing an inspiring reception set-up. “The basis for the design was whites, creams and a touch of blush floral with soft, fluttering volume and utilizing some of the texture naturally found in the environment at the resort, like the gorgeous marble and beautifully finished woods,” says Michelle Durpetti of Michelle Durpetti Events. “We utilized soft colors and textures and a mix of heights, metals and greens to bring a cascading tablescape to life. Small details really brought this look from ‘just beachy’ to bespoke – including linen hemstich monogrammed napkins by BBJ Linen and hand painted invitations and paper goods from Gourmet Invitations.”

The florals at the ceremony, lounge, cocktail hour and reception set-ups were arguably the stars of the inspirational show. Akeshi Akinseye with Kesh Events worked on the floral and design and explains, “I chose blooms that had a lot of movement and brought romance. A Cabo San Lucas Wedding

A Cabo San Lucas Wedding

Audrey and Allen had never attended a destination wedding and decided they might as well plan their own. They wanted a tropical and warm setting and determined that Cabo San Lucas, Mexico was the perfect place to tie the knot. “We wanted the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends over the course of a weekend, rather than rushing through an eight-hour affair,” says the couple.

The couple had a lot to consider when deciding on the location of their destination wedding and wanted to prioritize the needs of their guests. “We wanted it to be an easily accessible location where our guests wouldn’t have too much trouble flying to and from,” says the newlyweds. “Specifically, we wanted our grandmother, who hadn’t been on a plane in over 20 years, to be able to attend our destination wedding.”

Thankfully, breaking the news to family and friends came easily. “Our family and friends were more excited than we were because they could use our wedding as an excuse for a vacation,” says the couple. “Honestly, we were delighted when people responded back with enthusiasm.” With no delays or cancellations, travel was nearly seamless for the couple and their guests, despite the hour-long drive from the airport to the resort.

The planning stage had its ups and downs for the couple. They received a lot of help and tips from friends, resort reviews and YouTube videos, all of which helped them envision their special day. They faced some difficulties and frustrations with contacting the on-site coordinator. “Planning an event from several thousand miles away can be hectic, uncertain and scary,” says the bride. “For us, the top three things we desired were an open bar, good food and great dancing music for the reception.” After the couple decided to rely heavily on Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos Beach Resort reviews, they found that the resort's all-inclusive accommodations would “fit the bill” for them and their guests.

The resort took care of everything from table settings to food and drinks, which made it so the couple would just be responsible for providing their own flowers. Friends of the bride and groom helped arrange flowers that they bought from Costco for the bouquets and table arrangements.

Audrey and Allen also wanted to include various do-it-yourself projects for their big day. The bride’s cousin put together the signage for the ceremony and guest tables and the bride put together childhood photos of her and her husband that were placed at each table.

The newlyweds feel they absolutely spent less on their Cabo San Lucas wedding than what they would have on a wedding in their hometown of San Francisco, California.

“I don’t think we would have collected as many wonderful memories without having been able to spend some time before and after the wedding with our guests,” says the couple. “The day-of [flies] by all too quickly and we were fortunate enough to celebrate the evening before the wedding with a giant beach bonfire and matching jumbo marshmallows to roast.”

The bride advises that couples considering a destination wedding shouldn’t waste their time worrying about things out of their control, such as travel delays and weather. “Create a spreadsheet of all the logistics that are in your control and keep track of the big-ticket items,” says Audrey. “You may not be able to choose the flavor of your cake or the type of silverware on the tables, but who cares? At the end of the day, no one remembers the tiniest details, they only remember how they felt and how much fun they had, so make sure you also have fun on your wedding day."
