Real Destination Cabo Wedding

Quite often couples will choose to have a destination wedding because their families are spread across the nation and/or the world, therefore most guests would be traveling anyway. That’s exactly what Lexi and Robbie thought when they chose to wed in sunny Cabo, Mexico.

“Our families were incredibly supportive of our decision to throw a destination wedding,” the couple says. “Because we live in Nashville away from many of our family and friends, there was a high chance that regardless, many of our guests would need to travel for our wedding celebration. In the end, everyone ended up treating our wedding as a vacation, so it was a win-win!”

Lexi and Robbie also won when it came to exceptional vendors and service: a product of their research online, on Instagram and referrals. “We ended up finding our photographer first, and she referred us to our planner,” the couple explains. “From there, we relied on referrals from our planner. Since she is a local in Cabo, we trusted her input and expertise to guide us to other reliable vendors.” Communication with their stellar vendors went smoothly over email. Every weekend, the couple had conference calls with their planner Adriana Dupinet, who kept the couple on track and spoke Spanish to communicate further with vendors.

Most guests would be traveling from the Midwest in March, i.e. during freezing temperatures and lots of snow. Naturally, the couple was a bit nervous about this, but luckily, everyone arrived without any major issues. Guests had the option of taking a pre-arranged airport pickup or to rent a car for extra flexibility.

The two say in choosing a destination wedding, they could have a smaller guest list and also focus on adding additional special touches to make the event absolutely ‘Lexi and Robbie’. “While many people assume hosting a destination wedding saves money, we believe we would have come out the same if we hosted our wedding at home,” the couple says.

Maybe Lexi and Robbie’s wedding away didn’t save them money, but it surely turned out to be an absolute dream.

“Make the day your own and keep it simple,” the two suggest. “The day is really about being surrounded by the people you love. Choose a place that makes you happy all on its own.”

For these newlyweds, their happy place was Cabo, and it certainly didn’t let them down on their big day.
