Enchanting Tuscany

Tuscany, a region in central Italy, has long been a popular destination because of its exquisite rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and picturesque mountaintop villages. The area offers diverse natural landscape spanning from the rugged Apennine Mountains to the beaches along the Tyrrhenian Sea. Tuscany is also world-renowned for its amazing wines including Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino.

Regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany boasts an amazing number of charming localities, many of which have been named UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Its capital, Florence is home to some of the world’s most famous Renaissance art and architecture, including Michelangelo’s “David” statue, the works of Botticelli and the Duomo basilica. Nearby Pisa, with its famous leaning tower and medieval cities of Siena and San Gimignano are also must-see locations.

With so many amazing places to explore, it is very important to choose a venue with a central location. We found that the country wine estate, Borgo Argiano was a perfect base for our Tuscan holiday, not only because of its convenient location (just 20 minutes from Siena) but also due to its amazing vistas and serene atmosphere. After a busy day of touring, it was a delight to retreat to our private terrace to enjoy a glass of local wine and savor tranquil moments overlooking the beautiful view.

The estate’s roots date back to medieval times, but the property is newly restored with elegance and comfort in mind. The apartment suites are spacious, with convenient kitchens that allow guests to prepare a simple meal, if desired. The main building serves as a gathering place for guests with an inviting lounge and library, terrace and cozy courtyard. Adding to the charm of Borgo Argiano there is a tiny chapel with stained-glass windows at the center of the complex.

Borgo Argiano takes pride in hosting small weddings with a complete buy-out of the eleven apartments and Grande Suite. Ceremonies can take place in the chapel followed by a meal in the courtyard, lounge or under a marquee on the grounds. This small hamlet would also be a perfect destination for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.

Whether you want to immerse yourself in history and art or indulge in the local culinary and wine scene, you will find that Tuscany is an enchanting region. It is a place where you create memories that you will treasure for a lifetime and want to return to time and time again.
