Build Your Own Wedding Dress

Hunting for the perfect wedding dress can feel as magical as the day you said "yes," but, let’s be honest, brides often have a vision of exactly what they want. Often times the dress that fits the vision doesn't fit the budget or, on some occasions, it doesn't exist without hundreds of dollars in alterations: enter Anomalie.

Anomalie is a customizable, made-to-order bridal brand that visualizes and creates dresses to fit any size, style and budget. Brides work closely with professional stylists to hit every wish (and more) for their dress.

We got the chance to speak with Anomalie’s co-founder/CEO, Leslie Voorhees Means, and let us tell you, she and her team are revolutionizing the custom wedding dress process. Leslie knows what brides want out of their customization experience because she went through the process for her own special gown.

“I was not planning on starting a company, but it came out of designing my own wedding dress,” Leslie says. While living in China and working for Apple, she was amazed and inspired by the number of expert garment makers revolutionizing the textile industry all around her.

“I’ve always been really passionate about consumer brands,” Leslie says. “I knew I wanted to be a part of making really amazing products.” And she did just that.

Anomalie’s process (up until December 10th when their new DressBuilder tool launched) has been for the bride to have a long chat with a stylist, give them inspiration photos and talk through their must-haves and overall desired look. Then, the stylist would mock up a dress and the bride would request edits if needed. Now, the DressBuilder tool is speeding up the styling process and putting more creative power in the bride’s hands at the start, while keeping their traditional one-on-one time with stylists after designing online.

“Brides deserve to have their dream wedding dress and shouldn’t feel left out of the wedding dress shopping experience because of body size or shape, price range, or style preferences," Leslie says. "We’re unlocking a better experience for brides by streamlining the wedding dress design and shopping journey, truly giving brides the inspiration, tools, support and nearly unlimited options they need to create their perfect dress.”

With a whopping four billion potential dress options, the new tool allows brides to play around with several different styles and accessories. The process is simple –after a few survey questions and clicking through pictures like Pinterest, Anomalie creates a custom sketch of the dress. Customers can then work closely with in-house stylists to bring their dress to life, often at a fraction of the cost to customize an existing gown.

The highest-rated national wedding dress retailer on WeddingWire, nearly half a million brides are already using Anomalie to discover their dream dresses. Don't let us keep you much longer. Start building your dream dress for less today!
