Hillary Duff's Look for Less

Remember that show-stopping dress Hillary Duff got married in? It was only a little over a month ago that she put this out on Instagram for the world to see, although it feels longer.

If you fell in love with the actress/pop star's like we did but don't have Duff's budget, Azazie's got your back with some of their suggestions for achieving the look for less!

AZAZIE MARSDEN BG
Marsden is an elegant gown featuring a mermaid silhouette and a strapless neckline. The all-over lace will accentuate all of your curves. Our chiffon vest gives you that dramatic look as you walk down the aisle and features several covered buttons on the back to give you options when styling. The inner corset provides a secure and comfortable fit. This dress is perfect for brides who are looking for a romantic, yet elegant gown.

AZAZIE LINNEA BG
This Grecian-inspired gown is given a modern touch with softly gathered pleats across the bodice, an illusion sweetheart neckline and off-the-shoulder cape sleeves. Enchanting 3D flower appliques, delicate sequins and lace cascade down the bodice into the full A-line skirt that is crafted from layers of pristine chiffon.

AZAZIE VALENTINA BG
Valentina is a lovely romantic gown with a detachable cape and deep V-neckline. The neckline and belt are beaded and add the perfect amount of sparkle to this beautiful lace style. The cape is made of the same sheer lace as the dress, this lace is even more beautiful in person. The Valentina is perfect for those looking to change their look between the ceremony and reception.

Colorful Cancun Destination Wedding

This colorful styled destination wedding shoot took place on the white sandy beaches of Cancun. Held at the breathtaking resort Grand Velas Riviera Maya, it was the perfect backdrop for this a radiant Cancun oasis. Venue sourcing and travel logistics were executed by Wedaways travel agency. The designs, planning and the below description of the styled shoot below are by Best Bride wedding and event agency:

With palm trees blowing in the salty breeze, a path of vibrant roses led up to an altar full of color that framed the stunning scenery. Put together by La Distribuidora CDMX, this gorgeous altar united the beautiful brides for the exchanging of wedding vows. This day was created for any couple with a fun and playful side or for those unafraid to dip into some color to create a magical day that would wow any guest.

The reception was held in one of the most beautiful of all-white ballrooms, which was part of the inspiration that gave Leora, owner and head planner at Best Bride, a blank canvas to create whatever she could imagine. We brought this vision to life with vibrant table pieces, candles, and a gorgeous arrangement of flowers that filled the table with breathtaking tropicals. Presented by Bespoke Cancun Bakery was a three-tiered cake covered with rainbow florals, complementing the turquoise Caribbean ocean backdrop.

Wanting both brides to have their own unique look, Atelier Novais put together two beautiful wedding gowns. These gowns were both different to show each individual bride’s personality. Dominique Tiaras and Ellee Couture Boutique made beautiful headpieces and tiaras to make both brides feel like princesses on their special day.

There is no better way to welcome guests to a weekend wedding getaway than with individually packaged welcome bags. We chose beautifully woven purses that included a cute pair of orange heart-shaped sunglasses and customized toiletries wrapped in colorful floral packaging with the couple’s initials displayed on it. Additionally, a customized letter that welcomed each guest to their oasis was added as a personal touch.

We wanted to create something playful and fun for the table seating so we decided to create a chalkboard wall. Designed with customization and geometric figures to hold each name and table number to display. It also makes a beautiful backdrop for the brides and their guests to take pictures in front of.

Forget traditional white- we were not afraid to dip into color and mix and match with this color scheme. Using vivid oranges, yellows, reds, and purples, these pops of citrus created a fiesta inspiration. With choosing a palette of flashy florid colors we also wanted to add some simple details such as white table numbers, white wood chairs, and white linens.

Thanks to Bohemia Photography, we got to capture every special spectacular moment down to every little detail.

A Non-Traditional Asheville Wedding

Among the reasons to choose a destination wedding are having fond memories of the location as a child. Our real bride today, Lara, first visited the Biltmore House in Ashville, North Carolina when she was just seven years old. The dream to marry at the castle-like house took flight that day. Now, just to find the prince…

To say the couple’s beginnings were whimsical would certainly be appropriate. Groom Justin had an idea for a small group of friends to go to a private island off the coast of Honduras. Lara had previously met a few of Justin's friends at a Summit Series event - and it turns out that they were enlisted to help the island adventure go from a dream to reality. The first night in Honduras, Justin and Lara stayed up talking into the early hours of the morning, and, needless to say, they started a lifelong journey right there.

Justin proposed to Lara on New Year's Eve amongst a colony of penguins while the two were dressed in penguin onesie outfits (adorable, right?). Lara had found her prince and knew exactly where she wanted to start forever with him. Now, planning could commence.

“Like any project you aim to accomplish, you are only as good as your team, but it also depends on how you work.  Justin and I are a very intentional and proactive team,” Lara says. “Being decisive is an extremely helpful tool, especially if you often get stressed out,” the two advise.

Because of their positive and forward-thinking mindset, the couple says their overall experience of planning was phenomenal, plus they simply wished to learn as much as they could about the wedding industry itself.

The first item on the list was to find a wedding planner. Locating a local planner who not only knew the destination but had already planned a wedding at the Biltmore House was absolutely paramount to ease the process. Sara Fields Bridges with Wed Connections made a perfect match.

However, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows along the way. “The main issue we encountered,” the couple says, “was designing and executing a “non-traditional” wedding at a very traditional venue.” But nothing quite conveys style to vendors like Pinterest boards and DIY projects, both of which the couple felt eager to do. See a list of just a few of their personal touches below:

  • glued bright blue butterflies on tree branches for cocktail hour
  • put Justin’s favorite quotes in frames for the tables
  • spray-painted gold forest animals to use as place cardholders
  • A 90-foot pine tree fell in Lara’s family’s yard that has been there since her birth so she had it cut up and used in underneath Bell jars with fairy lights in them.
  • framed poster-sized photos of their other two wedding ceremonies (first being at Burning Man and the second eloping at a courthouse in Santa Barbara)

Many of the couple’s guests were flying from international locations, so the logistics of it all created a potential for a headache, but the two remained undeniably positive. Luckily, Biltmore House had two hotels on-property that the couple booked room blocks for, so lodging was checked off. Working closely with their planner on the ground, they crafted their special day with joy and excitement along the way.

When the special day finally arrived, there wasn’t a single thing that could rain on their parade… not even rain itself! “On our wedding day, there was a massive rainstorm and everyone was freaking out.  The only thing we could do was remain calm and think of an epic sunset when it stopped raining...which actually happened,” Lara says. A stunning mist fell atop the blue ridge mountains as the even sun broke out, creating a fairytale scene.

Aside from the stunning backdrop, Lara and Justin felt joy looking back on how they worked together, built each other up and enhanced each other's realities of the day. Plus, being surrounded by family and friends that shaped the two of them was priceless.

“If you have these elements,” the two say, “then no matter where you decide to have your wedding it will be one of the most epic events of your life.”

-morning skiff boat rides birdwatching and looking for wildlife
-kayaking in the rain

15 Winter Wedding Locations

When we think about destination weddings, our minds typically go straight to spring or beach summer weddings but there’s something truly magical and even warm about winter weddings.  If you’re about to start planning your dream wedding, you might be thinking about the destination, season and theme you’d like for your big day. In case you’re open to or have always dreamed of a winter wonderland wedding, carrentals.com shares this collection of some of the most beautiful winter venues across the U.S. for an enchanting and snowy destination wedding:

As we all know, wedding costs can rack up quickly, especially when you book it during peak wedding season, which is why the winter season is perhaps the best time of year to have a budget-friendly wedding. You’ll also have more flexibility when it comes to vendors as it’ll be a slower season for florists, rental companies and venues.

For further inspiration and to help you visualize what your wedding could look like, consider fun winter wedding party favors like scarves, mini hot cocoa mixes or scented tealight candles. We also love winter weddings with stations like a coffee and tea bar, s’more making fireplace or delicious signature holiday-themed cocktails.

Browse through this list of breathtaking winter venues to find the perfect one for you and your future spouse. To make things easier, this roundup includes the peak winter wedding months to host your wedding in each venue, their capacity, spaces available, and recommended hotels for you and your guests.

Sweet Santorini Real Elopement

Admittedly, choosing to have a destination wedding away from family and friends was a very difficult decision for Gabriel and Ashley to make.  “We are so deeply rooted in our families and have a wonderful network of friends who support us, so leaving them to travel halfway across the world take our vows was difficult to say the least,” the bride says.

However, Ashley and Gabriel shared a deep mutual love for travel. When asking one another “what would be one place we would most like to see that we had never ventured to before?”, the answer was clear as day: Santorini, Greece.

After solidifying their decision to elope abroad, the couple wanted to make sure to involve those close to them in some way (even though they wouldn’t be there physically). So, the couple got innovative, putting together gift boxes filled with traditional Greek wedding items and mailing them to family and friends right before departing for Santorini.

“The boxes notified the recipient to ‘Open on May 24th’ and included a full itinerary of our wedding day’s events so they could all follow along in real-time from the United States,” the couple says.

Even though Ashley and Gabriel were planning their wedding from across the globe, the process was practically seamless, thanks to their planner, Lydia Meritzi with Stella and Moscha. Lydia helped recruit vendors who’d best fit the couple’s vision.

“Using Skype allowed us to express our personalities and really get to know the team we were working with.  So much so that when we arrived in Santorini it was like meeting up with old friends for the wedding,” Ashley and Gabriel say.

When the day finally arrived for Ashley and Gabriel to say their “I do’s,” the sun shone over the Greek waters and all the couple had to focus on was taking in the first moments as husband and wife amongst stunning scenery. Although far from home, simple touches brought their beloved with them. Patches were sewn to the inside of Ashley’s dress with thoughtful notes written by her daughter, mother and sister.  Gabriel's suit also had memorable quotes from his Mom and Dad sewn into the inside.

“We so often hear about weddings being a blur for those who took their vows because of all the things needed during the preparation leading up to the big day.  The same cannot be said about our wedding day as we remember every tiny detail that took place and we soaked up memories that will last us the rest of our lives,” the couple says.

Fun & Affordable Bridesmaid Dresses

Evening Collective started in the heart of the garment district in New York City. They started with the goal of bringing expert craftsmanship and design in the creation of our dresses and doing it with an elevated shopping experience. Their goal was for their customers to not only see the detail that has gone into making their dress but also to experience shopping online in a more exciting way. Find out more about how to score bridal party dresses at an approachable price point from the team at Evening Collective below:

With exemplary and personal customer service, we make sure that we are guiding our bridesmaids from start to finish. We have created an interactive showroom that allows for bridal parties to shop together. The showroom experience also incorporates a sample dress service that provides you with the option to choose any dress in any size to try on in the comfort of your own home. Evening Collective is effectively bringing the bridesmaid dress journey to another level and we want bridal parties to join in on finding the perfect dress without the stress!

Bridesmaids begin their journey as soon as they enter the Evening Collective store. We have created a virtual interactive space for the bridal party to connect, shop and most importantly, have fun.

To begin with, we always suggest that our bridal parties create a showroom. The showroom allows for them to not only select dresses but also choose together! Having the opportunity to shop online with your friends makes it more collaborative and enjoyable.

Shopping online is all about convenience and ease. We hope that when you shop with us, you are receiving the upscale treatment of being in a bridal store without having to leave your home! It is just $15 for a sample, and only $25 for two samples so that you can compare size and style without the guessing game.

Once you have received your sample dress and have finally decided on “the one” we suggest that our bridesmaids then place their orders three months in advance to guarantee receipt of the dress in enough time so that if any alterations are needed (with a trusted seamstress) they can be made without a time crunch! We value the environment so our dresses are not mass produced but made to order which shows the attention to detail that goes into the craftsmanship of each and every dress.

Each bridesmaid will receive their beautifully tailored dress in a garment bag that allows for safe storage and transportation from their closet to the aisle.

We have an elite team of stylists that assist in making sure that our bridesmaids are feeling and looking even more beautiful than they already do!  Our styling team is able to personally guide each bridesmaid through both the selection and sizing process. Wedding Planning & Financial Therapy

As dreamy as destination weddings can be, budgeting for them can not only be a nightmare but it can put stress on you and your partner. That’s why financial therapy is exponentially more important than it seems.

We spoke with Amanda Clayman, financial therapist and Prudential’s Financial Wellness Advocate, to find out how couples should navigate the emotions and financial curveballs of getting married. We’ve broken it down into five common issues and how Amanda suggests you address them.

1. Facing the loss of expectations.

“When we get into the planning process and have to move from fantasy to reality, we need to process.”

2. The details may not matter as much to your partner.

“One of the realities is that the wedding is the most important thing we have going on right now, ask yourself, ‘how important is it to the other person’."

"You might be a saver, your partner may be a spender (and that’s ok). Don’t let differences freak you out during engagement, work through them together.”

3. Prenups: is it bad to consider one?

“This brings out all the feels, especially if you have different views on the topic, but identifying your underlying emotions about money can lead to easier conversations."

"If you are going into it thinking that it is useful because you want to communicate with your partner, they can actually be quite helpful.”

4. Bridal guilt is real, and if your boundaries aren’t clear it can escalate.

“Wedding are an exercise in new boundaries - boundaries that protect you and your partner."

"So you can’t afford to invite all your friends to the wedding, or some bridesmaids can’t afford your bachelorette party - breathe, and untangle the feelings from the facts.”

5. Self-care: is it really that important?

“We want to make sure to check back in with ourselves. Also, ensuring time outside of wedding planning with your partner will help you get back to the basics: being in love.”

Having someone on your team as a couple will help to fight fears and insecurities, forming money mindsets that promote mental and financial wellness whilst planning the wedding and into marriage.
