Where in the world should you travel to for your destination wedding when you want churros instead of cake and a performance by a mariachi band after you tie the knot? None other than Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, of course.
Because Maura and Tyler are from different states, their location needed to be in close proximity to both Texas and California. They ultimately decided that Cabo would be the best compromise for their guests and especially loved the idea because of the bride’s history with the city.
“I grew up going to Cabo my whole life and have family there,” the bride says. “We were married on my uncle’s property, which is about 20 minutes north of Cabo. It is a very special place for me, and when I brought my husband there for the first time, he totally fell in love with the property as well.”
Although many of the guests had visited Cabo prior to the wedding, Maura and Tyler provided a detailed wedding website for guests with information to help make the trip as easy as possible. The couple even arranged transportation to and from the wedding.
“All of our family and friends were excited to head down to Cabo for the wedding and make a little vacation out of it,” the bride says.
Because the couple wanted a smaller guest list, deciding to host the wedding abroad allowed for fewer people at the event but more money toward creating their dream day on the beach surrounded by oceanfront views.
“We definitely saved money by choosing a destination wedding,” Maura says. “Everything is less expensive in Mexico, and we were able to add in some fun perks like fireworks and a sunset dinner cruise for the rehearsal dinner!”
Maura’s familiarity with the location also contributed to smooth planning throughout. For couples wishing to wed in Cabo who might not have knowledge of the area, the bride recommends her wedding planner, Bonnie with Events By Bliss, to trust as a resource during the process and to help all your ideas come to fruition.
For Maura and Tyler, the inspiration for their destination wedding came to life with the perfect venue and plenty of bougainvilleas. Becoming husband and wife in Cabo San Lucas was all they had imagined and more.
