Annie and Aaron’s relationship goes back almost as far as their love affair with Santa Ynez, California. The area is home to a host of small, charming towns and amazing wineries. For their destination wedding, Annie and Aaron chose a private winery in Solvang.
“We chose the winery because we loved its relaxed, beautiful feel,” recalls the couple. “As we toured the winery, a rainbow appeared over the barn. We knew this is where we needed to get married.”
Their family and friends were supportive of the plan and 96 guests joined the couple on their wedding day. The ceremony was held in front of the century-old barn as the sun set over the surrounding vineyards. Having a close friend serve as their officiant added a sentimental touch to an already meaningful ceremony. After Aaron and Annie exchanged vows, their guests showered them with white rose petals.
What makes this wedding extra-special is the way the couple combined a lovely, classic color scheme with unique and rustic details befitting of the barn setting. Such details included a photo booth bus and an antique truck that doubled as a mobile beer bar. Guests were treated to a gorgeous reception set-up with sophisticated table settings juxtaposed by laid-back tunes and decorative elements. “The Bryan Titus Trio kicked off the reception with bluegrass jams and we and our guests enjoyed Santa Maria-style barbeque and local wine,” reflects the couple. After dinner, a DJ took over and the group danced the night away under the Solvang stars.
To thank their guests for coming, Annie and Aaron hosted a variety of pre- and post-wedding events including a meet-and-greet at Solvang Brewing Company and a rehearsal dinner and brunch at Valley Piggery. As for advice, the couple kept it short and simple. “Make sure to make your wedding your own.”
