A Chic Bahamas Destination Wedding

The title of this story should be “The Love Boat,” as so many of this couple’s romantic milestones have happened on the ocean.

Capel and Ross were engaged in New York City on a private boat tour around the city and their destination wedding on Great Exuma in the Bahamas included a group boat excursion as well.

Having gone to the island while growing up, the bride found it a perfect place for the couple’s destination “I do’s.”

With 200 people in tow, Capel and Ross celebrated in a true tropical paradise with a laid-back, relaxed event created by their wedding planner, Marva Monroe of Chic Bahamas Weddings.

Donning a Reem Acra gown, Capel looked stunning alongside her bridesmaids who were given the freedom to choose their own gowns. The bride’s “something old” happened to be the most important detail – a handkerchief that belonged to her grandmother.

The wedding celebration was a colorful fete, planned to perfection. Floral displays of bougainvillea, palm fronds and other local flowers adorned the space as they said their vows at Saint Andrews Angelican Church. The bride was escorted down the aisle by both her father and step-father, making it a personal, yet unique celebration.

The bride absolutely loves boats, so the couple took a quick cruiser ride to their reception waiting for them at a private home. The event was complete with Goombay Smashes – their signature cocktail, and local menu items such as lobster quesadillas, conch fritters and guava cake.

The party-vibe was in full effect between the local Bahamian band, junkanoo band and the couple’s favorite DJ flown in from New York.

We wish the couple a lifetime of happiness and hope this stunning event gives you inspiration for your own destination wedding in the Bahamas.
