Steve and Heather describe their relationship as “imanta,” meaning they have a magnetic connection, which is perfect because the couple wed at the Imanta Resort in Punta de Mita, Mexico. The couple had traveled to this location on a whim and knew instantly that this was the place they wanted to get married because they felt a special connection there. For the couple’s wedding, they got to share that special place with 32 guests, complete with a weekend full of amazing food, great people and memorable experiences.
“Imanta is our special getaway,” says the couple. “There was something about having everyone at one hotel, under one roof all weekend and keeping things intimate and small that made it so great.”
The couple’s wedding weekend kicked off with a buffet-style dinner on the beach followed by desserts and a beach bonfire. On the day of the wedding, the festivities didn’t stop there. “People went for breakfast at the beach and it was nice to see guests using the kayaks, swimming or taking a nap on the sand,” says the bride. Later that day, a taco lunch and pool party was set up with bartenders serving guests cocktails in the pool. “I didn’t want to leave! Our wedding planner had to pry me out of the pool when I was truly out of time.”
Keeping the ceremony simple and intimate as planned, the couple said their “I do’s” in front of a beautiful handmade altar on the beach, with one of their guests as the officiant, making the celebration even more memorable.
The reception, which overlooked the ocean, was non-traditional and was all about sharing time with guests. One of the bride’s daughters gave an impromptu speech at the wedding, leaving guests in tears with her words about Steve and Heather being married. “It was a special moment that I will never forget,” says the bride. “People were experiencing what the Imanta is all about. Seeing the smiles and connections between everyone brought me so much joy. That was exactly what I wanted…more than a cake or a first dance. The laughter and smiles from the people around me is forever burned into my memory as a special moment.”
